Pastor Shawn Stinson

    Primary: Galatians 5:22-23

    Secoundary: Colossians 3:121 Timothy 6:11Galatians 5:22–23

    • We should pursue and put on gentleness because God is perfect and gentle and the Bible commands it
    • We should pursue gentleness because it builds trust with others and leads to influence
    • We should pursue gentleness because it builds community and church unity
      • 1 Thess. 2:7-8
      • Eph. 4:29
    • We should pursue gentleness because it gives us a reasonable and fair worldview
      • 1 Peter 3:14-16

    1. Ask yourself, do I desire gentleness? If not, why not?
    2. Ask others, do you experience gentleness or abrasiveness in relationship with me?
    3. Ask God for help, will you create this in me?

“Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us
into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in.
Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical.
Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than
machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness.
Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost….” Charlie Chaplin

"If we try to pursue gentleness on our own accord, we are reliant on moralism and discipline, we are not relying on God."

"The gentleness of God presumes and requires strength and power."

"Gentleness is not the absence of strength, it is knowing how to use strength correctly."

"The Christian life is a faith that requires us to be in need."
