Fruit of The Spirit: Peace

Sermon Summary

January 24, 2021

Pastor Shawn Stinson

    Galatians 5:22-23

    Romans 8:6

    Ephesians 2:11-22 Because of Jesus...
We have spiritual peace with God
We have relational peace with others

Peace is a holistic complete trust in God supported by His continued presence with us

    Philippians 4:2-9 Peace is...
    1. Rejoicing in God instead of misplaced confidence in the world
    2. Reasonableness
    3. Awareness of God’s presence
    4. Not being anxious
    5. Knowing our access to God’s resources
    6. Trusting in the strength of God

[8] Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is
pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is
anything worthy of praise, think about these things. [9] What you have learned and received
and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you

    Ephesians 4:1-3
[1] I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to
which you have been called, [2] with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with
one another in love, [3] eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

"Just as joy doesn't require the absence of sadness, so peace doesn't require the absence of trial. "

"Think of the fruits of the spirit as different colors. God doesn't just want to paint one color in our lives, he wants to paint a beautiful mosaic."

"I want us to be a church that is unwilling to allow bitterness to root in our life that allows our oneness in Jesus to be disconnected."

Worldly stability will come and go, but the peace of God that's based in Jesus cannot be taken from us."

"We must be people that fight for the peace of God that's found in the word of Jesus."
